James Garrett

James Garrett has a diverse work experience spanning nearly two decades. James started as an Associate Scientist with Bayer Material Science before moving on to Luna Innovations where they held several roles including Senior Research Scientist and Director of Material Systems. James later became the Vice President of the Technology Development Division before being promoted to Senior Vice President and General Manager. In 2022, they became the CEO of Luna Labs. Throughout their career, James has shown exceptional leadership skills, expertise in developing materials, sensing, and biomedical technology solutions, and a talent for managing resources and ensuring customer needs are met in creative and practical ways.

James Garrett earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from William & Mary in 1997. James then pursued a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at Penn State University from 1997-2001. In 2014-2015, they completed their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the William & Mary - Raymond A. Mason School of Business.
