Lucy Fitzgerald has worked for Luna Labs USA as a Research Scientist since 2023. Prior to that, they worked for the University of Virginia, starting in 2018 as a Graduate Researcher where they designed and developed a self-powered implantable fluid flow sensor. Lucy conducted collaborative studies, managed undergraduate researchers, and handled multiple stakeholders across interdisciplinary grants until they left in 2023. Within the same period, they also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for six different courses. Before that, they worked for Digital Production Group from 2016 to 2018 as a Digitization Curator, where they created high-resolution photos and edited images using Adobe Photoshop and metadata software. Additionally, they worked for Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 2015 as a Nuclear Engineering Pathways Intern.
Lucy Fitzgerald earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a second Bachelor's Degree in English - Poetry Writing from the University of Virginia from 2014 to 2018. Lucy is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the same university with an expected completion date of 2023.
