John Schmit

John Schmit is a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Lunar Outpost, where John serves as the Testing Team Lead. Prior to this role, John worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Colorado School of Mines, managing the Space Resources Lab and conducting research on projects such as the TransAstra Optical Mining Testbed and OxEon Energy Lunar H2/O2 Production. John also has experience as a Renewable Systems Engineer & Senior Plant Operator at Over Yonder Cay, overseeing operations of a hybrid wind-solar microgrid and water desalination plant. In addition, John has worked as an Overhead Engineer at NorthWestern Energy and a Construction Engineer at PAR Electrical Contractors. John holds a Master of Science degree in Space Resources from Colorado School of Mines and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University-Bozeman.
