Johanna Buchert

Johanna Buchert is the current President & CEO at Luonnonvarakeskus, a Finnish organization dedicated to natural resources. Johanna previously served as Vice President Research at VTT from January 2008 to August 2015. In this role, they were responsible for the strategic research activities of the Solutions for Natural Resources and Environment business area. This included research on topics such as industrial biotechnology, biofuels and bioenergy, process chemistry and environmental engineering, biomass and food processing, and fibres and biobased materials.

Buchert has been instrumental in VTT's success as one of the largest multitechnological applied research organizations in Northern Europe. VTT offers technology and innovation services to a global customer base across industries. Under Buchert's leadership, the organization has seen steady growth, with a 2012 turnover of 316 M€ and 3150 personnel.

Dr.Techn Johanna Buchert has a degree in Industrial biotechnology from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan and a Master's Degree in Biotechnology, process engineering, industrial economics from Helsinki University of Technology. Johanna also has a student exam from Kesyn Lukio and IMD.
