Caroline Donovan has a diverse work experience in the healthcare and public health sectors. Caroline is currently the Director of Patient Engagement at the Lupus Research Alliance, where they are responsible for designing and managing a pilot peer advocate program to increase awareness and enrollment in clinical trials for individuals with lupus. Prior to this role, Caroline worked as the Manager of Patient Engagement at the same organization, where they assisted with the recruitment and organization of Patient Advisory Boards.
Before joining the Lupus Research Alliance, Caroline worked as a Multimedia Education Specialist at the John Theurer Cancer Center. In this role, they focused on promoting health education and engagement through digital communication, managing collaborations with non-profit organizations, and organizing community engagement events.
Caroline's experience also includes working as an Assistant Program Manager at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where they monitored and evaluated colon cancer screening rates and conducted research related to quality measurement and reimbursement. Caroline also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, where they taught core public health courses to first-year graduate students.
Additionally, Caroline gained experience in patient care coordination and clinical research as a Session Assistant at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Caroline'srole involved collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and quality care.
Caroline's early career included internships at the Touch Foundation, where they provided assistance in promoting medical education and healthcare in Tanzania, and at UKUN, where they delivered primary home-based medical care to patients with HIV/AIDS and conducted research on combating stigma associated with the disease.
Caroline Donovan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia from 2007 to 2011, where they studied History, Anthropology, and Global Public Health. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Public Health from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health from 2013 to 2015.
