Jose M. (Chema) Peña

Jose M. (Chema) Peña has extensive work experience in various industries and roles, showcasing their expertise in data science, artificial intelligence, and academic research. Jose M. (Chema) currently serves as the Data Science Lead at ARIX Technologies, where they focus on predictive maintenance of oil and gas pipe infrastructure, machine learning for pipe corrosion detection, and data analytics and visualization. In addition, they are an AI Expert at Toptal, providing consultancy on data science, heuristic optimization, and simulations. Previously, they co-founded Lurtis Rules and served as its CTO. Jose M. (Chema) has also worked as an Academic Visitor at the University of Oxford, an Associate Professor at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and a Visiting Researcher at Laboratoire Bordelais de Recherche en Informatique (LaBRI). Earlier in their career, they gained research experience as an Invited Graduate Student at the National Research Council Canada.

Jose M. (Chema) Peña completed their education in the field of Informática/Computer Science. From 1991 to 1997, they pursued a degree in Ingeniería/MsSc at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Following this, they went on to earn a Doctorado/PhD in Informática/Computer Science from the same university, completing their studies from 1998 to 2001.
