Denis Thien has had extensive work experience in the field of Human Resources. Denis began their career in 2002 at SSM Health Care, starting in an entry-level position and eventually growing into higher-level roles as an HR Consultant, HR Generalist, and HR Representative. During their time at SSM, they gained valuable experience in all aspects of HR, including employee relations, labor law, recruitment, policies and procedures, and employee benefits.

In 2008, Denis joined Lutheran Senior Services as the Director of Human Resources for the Meramec Bluffs retirement community. In this role, they were responsible for all HR functions for over 350 employees, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and training and development. Denis successfully led efforts to reduce staff turnover and implemented staff-focused programs that improved new hire retention.

In 2012, Denis was promoted to Regional Director of Human Resources at Lutheran Senior Services. Denis led HR Directors at multiple senior living communities and programs, overseeing their HR functions. And finally, in 2017, Denis became the Director of Benefits and Compensation at Lutheran Senior Services, providing strategic leadership in developing and managing employee benefits and compensation programs. Denis expanded self-insured medical benefits, developed an outcomes-based wellness program, and continually added new benefits for staff and their families.

Denis Thien obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business & Administration with a focus on Management and Entrepreneurship from Saint Louis University. Denis attended the university from 1997 to 2001. Later, they pursued further education at Webster University, where they earned a Master of Arts degree in Human Resources Management. This degree was completed between 2007 and 2010.
