Shane McMahon began their career in 2011 as a Research Assistant at Siena College. Shane then joined the Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in 2012 as a Ph.D. Candidate in Nanoengineering, performing doctoral research in the field of thin film semiconductor crystallization on flexible substrates. In 2018, they became an Entrepreneurial Fellow at Innovation Crossroads. Most recently, in 2017, they co-founded and became the CEO of Lux Semiconductors, an advanced microelectronics startup developing a new class of electronics called System-on-Foil. The company has received over $5 million in funding from the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, and National Science Foundation to develop this exciting new platform.
Shane McMahon obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physics from Siena College in 2012. Shane then attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering in 2011 and 2012. In 2012, they began their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nanoengineering at the University at Albany, SUNY, which they completed in 2018. In 2016, they obtained a COMSOL Multiphysics Simulation and Modeling Software Intensive Training certification from COMSOL, Inc.
