Indumathi Mariappan is a Senior Scientist at LV Prasad Eye Institute Hyderabad, where research focuses on the applications of adult and pluripotent stem cells to study eye development, disease, and the development of cell-based therapeutics. Previously, Indumathi worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, investigating the regulation of stem cell quiescence, activation, and self-renewal in a muscle model system. Established in 1987, L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Blindness, is a comprehensive eye health facility. LVPEI has served over 28.48 million (2 crore 84 lakh people), over 50% of them entirely free of cost, irrespective of the complexity of care needed.
