Randy Schekman

Advisor at Lycia Therapeutics

Randy Schekman is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, San Francisco. Randy is a Helen Hay Whitney Fellow in Jonathan Weissman's lab working to understand the early steps in membrane protein biogenesis. Collaborating with Michael Fischbach's lab to understand mechanisms of action for microbiome-derived metabolite signaling to host cells using phenotype-rich CRISPR screening.

Schekman received their PhD from UC Berkeley, where they studied the selective packaging of RNA into extracellular vesicles. Prior to that, they were a senior research assistant at OHSU.

Randy Schekman received their PhD in Microbiology from the University of California, Berkeley. Randy also holds a Master's degree in Biological Sciences from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, and a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology (General) from the same school.
