Joseph Maguire

Joseph Maguire's work experience begins with their current role as the Head of GMP Automation and Data at Lyell Immunopharma, which they started in December 2020. Prior to this, they worked at Atara Biotherapeutics as the Senior Director of Information Technology from November 2016 to November 2020. In this role, they were responsible for the strategic direction of regulated IT systems for various operations and departments. Joseph also led the design of regulated IT systems for a new facility, focusing on creating a paperless manufacturing facility.

Before Atara Biotherapeutics, Joseph worked at Baxalta as the Site IT Associate Director from October 2011 to November 2016. In this position, they oversaw all aspects of IT infrastructure and IS applications at a biopharmaceutical plant. Joseph also represented IT on the senior leadership team and implemented initiatives to increase efficiency and support end users.

Prior to Baxalta, Joseph worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb as the Lead Automation Engineer from November 2007 to May 2011. In this role, they were responsible for delivering MES solutions for a new large-scale cell culture facility. Joseph managed contractors and ensured the timely delivery of milestones.

Joseph also gained experience at Amgen as a Senior Engineer from June 2006 to November 2007. During this time, they designed pressure hold and steaming processes and collaborated with vendors to integrate systems into a pilot plant.

Before Amgen, Joseph worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb as a Process Supervisor from May 2003 to June 2006. In this role, they managed a team and led multiple processes in a pilot plant facility.

Joseph's earliest work experience was at BOC Gases as a Plant Engineer from June 2001 to May 2003. Joseph performed daily operations and participated in the automation upgrade and commissioning of an air separation plant.
