Process Development Engineer 1 at Lygos

Jonathan Bruna has a diverse range of work experiences in various roles and industries. Jonathan started their career as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at the Dr. Noémie Elgrishi Group, where they conducted research on the production of solar fuel and synthesized large organometallic molecules. Jonathan then worked as a Teacher's Assistant for Unit Operations at the Cain Department of Chemical Engineering.

In 2020, Jonathan took on the role of a Tutor & Shadow at The Dunham School, where they provided tutoring in algebra and chemistry to students in grades 6-12. Jonathan also supported students with special needs by offering note support and helping them develop independent learning skills.

Moving forward, Jonathan joined Zymergen as an Associate Process Development Engineer. In this role, they operated a bench-scale hydrogenation reactor, conducted experiments, and optimized reaction conditions for scale-up and downstream processing of fermentation-derived molecules. Jonathan also played a key role in establishing critical lab operations and processes for scale-up and conducted studies to better understand commercial product properties.

Afterwards, Jonathan worked as a Process Engineer at Demetrix, where they gained experience in process optimization.

Currently, Jonathan is working as a Process Development Engineer 1 at Lygos, where they are involved in process development activities.

Jonathan Bruna attended Louisiana State University from 2016 to 2020, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.
