Melissa Taverner

President at Lyon College

Melissa Taverner is the current President of Lyon College, and has previously served as both Interim Vice-president for Academic Affairs and Interim President at Emory & Henry College. Melissa has also worked as Chair of the Department of Biology, where they were responsible for managing day-to-day operations, coordinating departmental course offerings, and teaching schedules. Melissa has been an Associate Professor of Biology since 1994, and has taught courses in general biology, microbiology & immunology, cell biology, and biochemistry.

Melissa Taverner has a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia, a Master of Science in Virology from the University of Reading, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Randolph-Macon Woman's College.
