Merriam Haffar

Merriam Haffar, PhD, serves as the Director of Stewardship at Mackenzie Investments since May 2022, previously holding roles as Senior Manager of ESG Corporate Engagement at BentallGreenOak from October 2020 to April 2022 and Manager of Sustainable Investing there before that. Haffar's academic contributions include a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Michigan's Stephen M. Ross School of Business, where a customized ESG decision-making tool was developed in collaboration with Ford Motor Company. Teaching experience includes designing and instructing various courses on business management, sustainable development, and ESG reporting at Ryerson University from July 2016 to September 2020. Earlier experience comprises management roles at EMSL Canada and environmental health and safety coordination at TS Environmental. Haffar holds a PhD in Environmental Applied Science and Management from Ryerson University and has a robust educational background, including a Master’s degree from Ryerson University and a Bachelor’s degree from the American University of Beirut.
