In May, 2019 the Madison Police Department was granted tier one accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

As the 7th municipal police agency to achieve this milestone in the state, the police department joins the 5% of the over 18,000 law enforcement agencies in the US to achieve accreditation. CALEA is the gold standard for public safety agencies.
