Kaela Shelby

Kaela Shelby is an Associate Copywriter at Madwell. Prior to their current position, they served as a Communications Assistant with the New York City Council from December 2019 to August 2021. In this role, Kaela was responsible for staffing the Council Member throughout their fast-paced schedule, engaging with residents and community groups on key issues, and attending evening and weekend events. Kaela also produced talking points and flyers for events, drafted monthly newsletters, and maintained the Council Member's website.

Before their work with the New York City Council, Kaela served as a Guest Services Coordinator with the United States Tennis Association from July to September 2019. In this role, Kaela monitored Grand Stand court entrances and exits, screened VIP guests as they entered the facility, and maintained communication with the US Open Command Center.

Kaela's other previous positions include Graduate Assistant/Receptionist with St. John's University from August 2018 to December 2018, Social Media Intern with The Source Magazine from January to May 2018, and Library Assistant with the St. John's University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences from August 2017 to May 2018.

Kaela Shelby has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from St. John's University and a Master of Arts in Government and Politics from St. John's University Rome Campus Graduate Programs.
