Leonardo Sonzio

Leonardo Sonzio is currently the Vice President and Head of Fleet Management and Technology at A.P. Moller - Maersk, overseeing the new building, operation, and recycling of the Maersk fleet of container ships. Additionally, Leonardo serves as a Board Member for Maersk Insurance A/S. Prior to this role, Leonardo held various positions including Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Svitzer, where responsibilities encompassed Group Marine Standards, Technical Management, and Procurement. Leonardo also worked at Maersk Tankers as Head of Fleet Group Management, managing approximately 80 product tankers and leading new builds and retrofit projects. Early career experience includes multiple roles at Wärtsilä, focusing on environmental solutions and business development. Leonardo holds a Master’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Università degli Studi di Trieste and has completed executive programs at Hanken & SSE and Stanford University.
