Magic Leap
Javier Hidalgo-Carrió is a Senior Computer Vision Researcher/Engineer at Magic Leap since December 2022, bringing extensive expertise in robotics and automation. Previously, Javier served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Zurich's Robotics and Perception Group from July 2019 to June 2022, and held various roles at the Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI) from April 2011 to July 2019, focusing on planetary rover localization within the ESA Networking Partnering Initiative. Javier's experience includes positions as a Robotics Researcher and Robotics System Engineer at the European Space Agency, where important contributions were made to navigation and robotic systems for planetary exploration. Javier's educational background includes a PhD in Robotics from the University of Bremen, an MSc in Automation and Robotics from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and a Master's in Computer Science & Engineering from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, complemented by a Diploma in Human Development Theory from the United Nations Development Programme.
