Jim Ly is a Senior Data Engineer at Magic Leap, having joined the company in May 2016. In this role, Jim sub-leads data collection efforts at two locations in Sunnyvale and Florida, focusing on planning and delivery of data collection activities and the development of related software tools. Previously, Jim played a key role as a Data Operations Engineer and Senior Data Collection Engineer, where responsibilities included spearheading initial data collection efforts, refining protocols, handling data for device prototypes, and engaging with ground truth systems such as Vicon Motion Capture and Faro LiDAR Scanner. Jim's experience also includes conducting user studies and participating in data collection efforts across over 150 offsite locations. Prior to Magic Leap, Jim worked at Target from October 2014 to May 2016 as a Backroom Team Member. Jim holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology - Computer Networking and Technology and a Minor Degree in Business from San José State University, completed in 2016.
