Ryan Ong

Ryan Ong is an accomplished materials scientist and engineer with over 18 years of experience in the fields of waveguide materials, supplier quality, and reliability engineering. Currently serving as Senior Director and Distinguished Hardware Engineer at Magic Leap since January 2017, Ryan leads teams focused on advancing near-eye-display technologies and optimizing waveguide materials through cross-departmental collaboration. Prior experience at Intel Corporation involved significant roles in equipment and materials supplier quality, where Ryan achieved notable improvements in quality metrics and sustainable growth. Ryan holds a PhD, M.S., and B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering and Ceramic Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
