Joseph Bishop

SVP, Operations & Product Development at Magnolia Medical Technologies

Joseph Bishop is a Senior Executive with over thirty years of diverse experience in the medical device industry. He is an innovative thinker with broad-based expertise in operations, business development, strategic planning, and research & development. Joseph is an inventor / designer of multiple product patents and product designs.

Most recently Joseph served as Vice President of Operations / R&D for Vascular Dynamics Inc, which developed an endovascular device-based implant to help patients suffering from autonomic imbalance, and Suneva Medical Corporation which provides novel aesthetic products for dermatology, plastic, and cosmetic surgery. Joseph served as a member of the Executive Leadership team providing strategic direction for all operational and research and development activities. Building and leading multidiscipline teams in the areas of operations, manufacturing engineering and R&D while creating a culture of innovation and operational excellence.

Previously Joseph served as President and CEO of Onset Medical Corporation developing the company from concept to commercialization and subsequent acquisition by Terumo Medical Corporation. Onset Medical developed expandable and re-collapsible access catheters for a variety of urology and cardiology applications. Joseph remained with Onset/Terumo as Chief Operations Officer responsible for formulating and administering and overseeing all company policies, developing long range goals and objectives, directing, and coordinating activities of R&D, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations groups and continued expansion and management of the patent portfolio.

Prior to his role at Onset Medical, Joseph was the Vice President of Research and Development for Endologix, Inc. developing a departmental strategy to address gap analysis and corrective action requirements and implemented product design control requirements and validation test criteria to satisfy FDA requirements, and managed completion of R&D and Manufacturing module for PMA submission. Additionally, Joseph was Vice President of operations for Radiance Medical Systems designing and fabricating manufacturing process for a radioactive balloon catheter and creating manufacturing facilities both in the U.S. and Europe.

Earlier in his career Joseph held engineering and management positions at CardioVascular Dynamics Inc. and with Guidant (Advanced Cardiovascular Systems).
