Donnie Fuerstenau is a design engineer at Magnusson Klemencic Associates. Donnie previously worked as a civil engineering intern at Fink Roberts & Petrie, Inc. and an engineering intern at Kirby Building Systems, A Nucor Company. At Fink Roberts & Petrie, Donnie modeled existing raker frame loadings on Bankers Life Stadium using Risa 3D for summer 2020 renovations, performed structural analysis of Indianapolis Pan Am Plaza building and substructure using ETABS, and modeled existing conditions and expansions of both steel and concrete projects using Revit. Donnie also analyzed concrete slab design and punching shear checks using SAFE, worked with engineers to review shop drawings submitted by contractors for various projects, and assisted engineers on site visits to observe and report on construction progress.

At Kirby Building Systems, Donnie analyzed estimating software performance and corrected snow drift calculations per ASCE 7-10, utilized proprietary design software to optimize building member size and cost, updated Standard Design Manual CAD drawings, and served on the Hand Safety Committee and provided safety topics at weekly meetings. Donnie also analyzed weekly inventory usage and cost/ton to improve future orders.

Donnie Fuerstenau graduated from Castle High School as valedictorian before going on to study civil engineering at Purdue University. Donnie earned their BS and MS in civil engineering from Purdue University.
