Magpie Literacy
Jiheh Ritterling is a proficient Unity Developer currently engaged with Magpie Literacy since February 2024, and serves as an Indie Game Developer at Spicy Rice Cake Studio since October 2020, where design and refinement of puzzles and game mechanics for a puzzle adventure game takes place. Prior experience includes a role as a Software Engineer at Age of Learning from August 2022 to October 2023, achieving notable optimizations in Unity activities, and enhancing My Reading Academy as a web app. Additionally, experience as a Game Developer at MegaZebra involved ensuring compatibility of Mahjong Trails with mobile platforms, while at Watermark as a Software Engineer, Jiheh contributed to a data ingestion engine and advocated for coding best practices. Educational background includes a self-directed engineering retreat at Recurse Center, a Fullstack Academy program, and a Bachelor’s Degree featuring a double major in International Business and Finance from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, complemented by a study abroad experience at Yonsei University.

Magpie Literacy
We are on a mission to unlock the great reader in every child to end illiteracy in our country -- centering the experiences of Black, Latino, and Native American students and students experiencing poverty. We are developing research-based, identity-affirming PK-8+ digital literacy tools that leverage student uniquenesses to help every child master the foundational reading skills needed to become strong, confident readers. We’re currently hiring our founding team of mission-driven individuals committed to helping us develop a scalable, impactful reading product that helps us eradicate illiteracy in America.
