Melissa Rafferty

System Director, Clinically Integrated Network And Primary Care Service Line at Main Line Health

Melissa Rafferty has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Melissa started their career as a Registered Cardiovascular Technologist/Sonographer in various hospitals, specializing in cardiac and vascular ultrasound studies. Melissa then worked as an Ultrasound Sales Representative at General Electric Medical Systems, where they were responsible for hiring and training representatives, developing training materials, and meeting sales targets.

Following that, Melissa served as the Administrative Director of the Cardiovascular Science Program at The Bryn Mawr Hospital, leading an educational program shared between a health system and a college. Melissa continued their career at Cardiovascular Associates of Southeastern Pennsylvania/Mercy Suburban Hospital as an Administrative Director of Cardiovascular Services, where they restructured the revenue cycle, reduced operational expenses, and increased revenue.

From there, Melissa held the positions of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer at Cardiovascular Associates of Southeastern Pennsylvania. In these roles, they successfully implemented a new electronic health record system, oversaw the dissolution of the practice, restructured the organization for increased financial stability, and led forensic investigation efforts to reduce operational expenses.

Melissa then became the Chief Executive Officer of Upper Bucks Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, where they restructured the governance and leadership of the organization, resulting in increased physician compensation. Currently, they are working at Main Line Health as the System Director of the Clinically Integrated Network and Primary Care Service Line. In this role, Melissa has been instrumental in the start-up and development of a health system-owned Clinically Integrated Network, expanded the network's membership to over 1500 physicians, and provides administrative leadership and oversight of clinical strategies and operations. Melissa also served as the Division Director of Cardiovascular Practices at Main Line Health, overseeing a large group of healthcare providers and leading various construction projects to expand the ambulatory footprint.

Melissa Rafferty obtained their MBA in General Management from St. Joseph's University in 1996. Prior to that, they earned a B.S. in Health Management from Gwynedd Mercy University in 1991, and an A.S. in Cardiovascular Science from the same institution in 1989.
