Maine Distance Project (MDP) is a professional distance running team based in Maine, built to create a high-performance home for the state’s top distance runners. We support emerging professional athletes with structured coaching, financial backing, and community integration so they can continue pursuing national- and world-class goals without leaving Maine.

MDP operates as a grassroots-supported initiative. Funding comes from local businesses, individual supporters, and mission-aligned partners, with 100% of funds directed toward athlete support, including training stipends, race travel, and performance resources.

The team is coached and led by Kelton Cullenberg and is presented by Steady State Health, our primary partner supporting coaching, performance services, and long-term athlete development.

Our focus is simple:
	•	Support Maine-based athletes beyond the collegiate level
	•	Keep elite running talent in Maine
	•	Build sustainable, local partnerships that directly benefit athletes
	•	Prioritize long-term performance, health, and durability

MDP is actively building partnerships with businesses and community members who believe in investing locally and supporting athletes through a sustainable, athlete-first model.
