John Burns

John Burns currently serves as the Director of Corporate Engagement at the University of Maine, a role focused on connecting corporations with the university's resources, including students and research facilities. Since July 2000, John Burns has held the position of Strategic Advisor at Maine Venture Fund, where the focus is on investing in promising, privately-held companies within the state. Additionally, John Burns previously served as Managing Director at the same fund and worked at Unum as a Portfolio Manager and 2nd Vice President from March 1984 to May 1999. John Burns earned an MBA with High Distinction from Babson College and holds an MS in Resource Economics from Penn State University and a BS in Resource Economics from the University of Maine. John Burns also participated in Leadership Maine from 2012 to 2013, where John was the Class Co-representative for the Upsilon Class.
