Dr. Kinna Thakarar, DO MPH, is an attending Physician in Infectious Diseases/Addiction Medicine at Maine Medical Partners (MMP) in South Portland and at the Gilman clinic in Portland.
Dr. Thakarar grew up near Philadelphia and received her B.A. in Health and Societies from University of Pennsylvania. She received her Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from Johns Hopkins and her D.O. from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge, Mass. She also completed fellowships in Infectious Disease and Immersion Training in Addiction Medicine at Boston Medical Center in Boston, Mass.
Dr. Thakarar is board certified in infectious disease, addiction medicine and internal medicine. She is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. She served on the American Society for Addiction Medicine’s COVID-19 task force and is an advocacy liaison for the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
