Phil Neumann

Co-Founder, CEO at Mainstem Malt

Phil Neumann is the Co-Founder and CEO of Mainstem Malt. Phil has also served on the Board of the Craft Maltsters Guild and as Program Director for the Walla Walla Watershed Management Partnership.

Phil has dedicated their career to improving water management practices in the Western United States. At the Walla Walla Watershed Management Partnership, they worked to pilot local water management in the Walla Walla Basin. Through implementation and adaptive management of the Partnership's "Flow From Flexibility" water management programs, Phil was able to harness the vast potential for win-win-win outcomes amongst the Basin's fish, farms, and communities.

At the Craft Maltsters Guild, Phil has continued their work to support artisan-scale grain malting and allied trades. Phil started their Board tenure in March 2020 at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, and has served the Guild through two of it's most challenging, growth filled years to date. Their Board service includes active participation in the Marketing & Events Working Group, Member Services Working Group, and DEI Task Force.

Phil Neumann has a Master of Science in Water Resources Science from Oregon State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, and Physical Geography from the University of Colorado Boulder.
