Paul van Zyl

Co-Founder & CEO at Maiyet

Paul van Zyl has worked in a variety of roles across the public, private and non-profit sectors. From 1995 to 1999, they were the Executive Secretary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa. During this time, they also worked as an Associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP. From 1999 to 2001, they were the Director of the Transitional Justice Program at New York University. In 2001, they co-founded the International Center for Transitional Justice and served as the Executive Vice President. From 2010 to 2016, they were the Co-Founder and CEO of Maiyet. In 2016, they co-founded The Conduit and currently serves as the Chief Creative Officer.

Paul van Zyl began their education in 1988, when they earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. Paul then went on to earn a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the same university from 1993 to 1996. In 1997, they completed a Master of Laws (LLM) at New York University School of Law. In 2010, they completed an Executive Education program at Harvard University in Global Leadership and Public Policy for the 21st Century.
