Jack McDouall

Jack McDouall is a Managing Director in the In-House Counsel Practice of Allegis-BN, China affiliate of Major, Lindsey & Africa. Jack assists multinational companies in identifying and hiring talented lawyers throughout Asia. He does this through his extensive network of contacts in the Asia legal industry.

Jack's private practice experience and his past experience working for other international search companies (which were also multinationals based in Hong Kong and China) provides him with a sharp and nuanced awareness of cultural differences and expectations of Asia candidates and Asia-based clients. This allows Jack to make critical assessments of a lawyer's suitability to working in a particular in-house environment. Jack can ably identify lawyers who have the required skill sets demanded by his clients, especially those who can collaborate with other team members in his clients' legal teams due to his comprehensive understanding of the Asia in-house world.

Jack was born in Hong Kong and was educated in the UK. He is conversant in Cantonese and Mandarin.

Based in Beijing where he has lived for many years, Jack has extensive knowledge of the legal environment in China having practiced law with an international law firm based in Beijing, where he worked on a range of contentious and non-contentious matters, and working as a former recruitment consultant for one of Hong Kong's most well-known legal recruiters. Jack was admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales before returning to Asia in 2008.
