Nancy Reiner

Nancy Reiner, a Partner and the leader of the Boston In-House Counsel Recruiting team, focuses on placement of general counsel and other in-house counsel for public companies and private businesses, major global corporations and disruptive start-ups, hospital and other healthcare systems, and colleges and universities. Nancy has placed dozens of general counsel, chief IP counsel, and chief compliance officers over the last few years across all industries—from a company seeking its first GC to a major corporation engaged in strategic succession planning for its incumbent legal leader. Over the past decade as an executive search consultant, Nancy has placed close to 100 senior-level leaders in corporate legal departments throughout New England and across the country.

Nancy is passionate about legal search—she loves her part in making a difference by identifying top talent for her clients’ specific legal needs. She instills the upmost confidence in her clients by understanding their unique culture and their specific legal need and the desired candidate personality to match it. Nancy has gained valuable and trusted partnerships with her long-term clients, resulting in multiple legal searches for many of them as they structure and build their legal team and develop their talent.

Nancy lives in Lexington, Mass., with her husband, Ilan, and their dog. Nancy has three young adult daughters and loves spending time with them. She also loves Spin, swimming, tennis, politics and reading.

Nancy is also the founder and president of Green Pro Bono Inc., a non-profit that matches pro bono attorneys with climate change focused non-profits and social enterprises.

Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Nancy opened and led the Boston office of Counsel On Call as Executive Director from 2008 through 2011.

Nancy’s 20+ years of practicing law at major firms has given her the tools and experience necessary to truly understand the legal needs of her corporate clients. Previously, Nancy was a partner (and associate) at Brown Rudnick in Boston for 18 years and an associate at Goodwin Procter and the former DiCara, Selig, Sawyer & Holt for six years. . While at Brown Rudnick, Nancy litigated and managed several complex commercial, public interest and environmental cases. She initiated and litigated the Commonwealth of Massachusetts case against the tobacco manufacturers (Commonwealth of Massachusetts v. Philip Morris, et al.), which resulted in an $8.3 billion settlement for the state, and led the discovery on behalf of the Commonwealth of 6+ million documents in record setting time. She also initiated and litigated the City of Boston’s case against the gun manufacturers (City of Boston v. Smith & Wesson, et al.) and settled several precedent setting multimillion-dollar environmental insurance recovery as well as environmental, mold, mercury and lead paint cases.

Nancy was the founder and chair of Brown Rudnick's successful Incubator Group and Knowledge Management Initiative, an active member of Brown Rudnick's Pro Bono Committee, a board member of the Greater Boston Legal Services, an adjunct professor at Northeastern University School of Law for "Mediation in the Public Interest," and the co-chair and co-founder of the Massachusetts Bar Association's Eco-Challenge to make law firms more sustainable. She is the Chair of the Public Health Advocacy Institute and board member of Green Pro Bono Inc. and the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF). Nancy also co-founded Partners for African Community Center for Social Sustainability (ACCESS) and Dining for Darfur. She was the co-chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Massachusetts chapter of the Federal Bar Association, a "Champion" for Building Bridges Legal/Medical Partnership at the Boston Medical Center, a Member of the National Sustainability Law Office Practices Subgroup, a Connector for the Boston World Partnership, was recognized as a Boston "Super Lawyer" and is Martindale-Hubbell AV Peer Review Rated.
