Daniel Coates

Daniel Coates is an experienced professional in public affairs and community organizing, currently serving as the Director of Public Affairs at Make the Road New York since May 2024. Prior roles include Senior Organizer for Justice and Innovation Initiatives at The Action Lab, Immigration Field Director and Interim Director of Immigration at Community Change, and Deputy Director at Riders Alliance. Daniel's earlier experience includes serving as Chief of Staff for Councilmember Julissa Ferreras-Copeland at the New York City Council and holding various roles at Make the Road New York, including Lead Organizer and Institutional Organizer. Daniel Coates holds a BA with Distinction in Political and Social Thought from the University of Virginia.
