Vaqais Hussain has a diverse work experience in marketing and has held various roles throughout their career. Vaqais started their career as a Marketing Intern at Innersmile in 2007 and later worked as a Marketing Coordinator at Ashfield UK.
In 2009, Vaqais joined Aston Villa Football Club as a Marketing Assistant, where they provided assistance in planning and implementing seasonal campaigns. Vaqais also acted as matchday support and worked with external agencies for marketing communication materials. Vaqais was later promoted to Marketing Executive, where they advised on social media, content marketing, and email marketing best practices. Vaqais managed the club's social media presence and collaborated with web agencies for website development and mobile applications. Lastly, they served as the Marketing Manager (Retail) where they implemented strategic marketing plans for Aston Villa Online Store to increase web traffic, drive conversion, and capture supporter data.
In 2015, Vaqais transitioned to a Digital Manager role at PizzaExpress and later became the Digital Marketing Manager at The Institute of Cancer Research. Vaqais was responsible for managing digital marketing initiatives in both positions.
Vaqais then joined DerbySoft in 2017, initially working as an Account Marketing Manager - EMEA. Vaqais then became a Marketing Strategist, where they acted as the central point between product, sales, performance, and external partners to implement marketing campaigns. Vaqais conducted competitor research, developed value propositions, and created marketing materials and thought leadership for metasearch advertising products.
In 2019, Vaqais took on a role as a Marketing Director at Actual Experience. Vaqais led marketing efforts to identify new customers, raise awareness of their unique technology, and grow their footprint within channel partners. Additionally, they worked as a Marketing Communications Consultant at Tabia Consultancy, where they collaborated with small business owners to shape, build, and implement marketing plans to deliver value, awareness, and revenue.
Vaqais is currently working as a Senior Marketing Manager at Makersite, where they began in 2022.
Vaqais Hussain earned a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from De Montfort University, completing their education from 2004 to 2007. In addition to their degree, they obtained various certifications throughout their career. These include the Agile Marketing Foundations certification from LinkedIn in June 2019, The Data Science of Marketing certification from LinkedIn in June 2019, the Decision-Making Strategies certification from LinkedIn in February 2019, the Designing Growth Strategies certification from LinkedIn in February 2019, the Complete SQL Bootcamp certification from Udemy in April 2018, and the Sitecore XP 7 Advanced User (CAU) certification from Sitecore in May 2015.
