Rakan Al-Shawaf has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. In 2015, they served as a Co-Chair for QHacks, a role that lasted until March 2016. During this time, they also became a Regional Finalist for the Hult Prize Foundation, where they presented a business plan for a social enterprise called Medina. In 2017, they co-founded Ryno Global, a supply chain and logistics service based in Shenzhen, China. Rakan played a key role in customizing products and drop-shipping them worldwide, leading the company to 8-figure annual revenue. The same year, they were chosen as a Cansbridge Fellow and later became a CEO and Co-Founder of Makeship in 2018. At Makeship, a crowdfunding platform for content creators, Rakan helped social media stars monetize their followings through short-term product campaigns. Rakan successfully grew Makeship to 8-figure annual revenue as well. Rakan's most recent work experience includes being a member of C100, starting in June 2022. Rakan Al-Shawaf completed their high school education at the American International School in Riyadh from 2012 to 2014. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and attended Queen's University from 2014 to 2018, where they obtained their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree. In addition to their formal education, Rakan also earned a Certificate of Chinese Proficiency (HSK) in March 2017. Furthermore, they obtained a Private Pilot License from Transport Canada - Transports Canada, although the specific dates of completion are not provided.
