Konstantinos Kyprianidis has a diverse work experience in the field of energy engineering. Konstantinos started their career as a Mechanical Engineer at Triga Engineering Consultants, where they worked on mechanical and electrical installation design for buildings, water distribution system modeling, and geotechnical survey supervision.
Konstantinos then moved on to Chalmers University of Technology as a Post-Doc, where they lectured on gas turbine technology, provided technical guidance to PhD candidates, and participated in various EU projects and research programs.
Later, Kyprianidis joined Rolls-Royce as a Principal Performance Engineer and Focal Point for the TP400 project. Konstantinos managed a team of performance engineers and was responsible for steady-state engine performance aspects, airworthiness, certification, and engine control analysis.
After that, they became a Scholar at Cranfield University, where they acted as a lecturer, technical advisor, and participated in several EU projects.
Currently, Kyprianidis serves as a Full Professor in Energy Engineering at Mälardalen University. Konstantinos leads the SOFIA research group, serves as the Head of Research Education for Energy and Environmental Engineering, and is the Programme Director for the BEng/MEng Energy Engineering program.
Konstantinos Kyprianidis has a strong educational background in mechanical engineering and gas turbine engineering. Konstantinos earned their Dipl.-Ing. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in 2006. Later in 2007, they obtained the certification of PEng from the Technical Chamber of Greece.
Konstantinos then pursued further education and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Gas Turbine Engineering from Cranfield University in 2010. During this period, they also obtained the certification of Member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in 2008.
In 2010, Kyprianidis attended Chalmers University of Technology, where they achieved the degree of Docent in Aero Engine Conceptual Design and Analysis in 2013. Furthermore, they obtained several certifications during this time, including CEng from the Engineering Council, MIMechE from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and MIET from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in 2013.
Lastly, Kyprianidis returned to Cranfield University and completed their second Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Gas Turbine Engineering in 2019. Konstantinos also acquired the certification of Member of Sveriges Ingenjörer from Sveriges Ingenjörer in 2014.

Mälardalen University
Here people meet who wish to study, conduct research, teach, and help create a sustainable future through knowledge and innovation. We believe that knowledge and fresh perspectives are best attained and reached together with others – our colleagues, students, the private and public sectors, both nationally and internationally. Around 17 000 students are currently studying courses and programmes with us in the various domains. We offer education in areas such as design and communication, economics, health, engineering and technology, preschool and compulsory school teacher training as well as in chamber music and opera. In most of our areas we also offer programmes entirely taught in English. We conduct research in all disciplinary domains and our research in Future Energy and Embedded Systems is internationally prominent. Mälardalen University is located in Sweden, on both sides of Lake Mälaren, with campuses in Eskilstuna and Västerås. Mälardalen is a region dominated by strong growth with several multinational companies based here such as ABB, Volvo, Westinghouse, Alstom and Northvolt. We enjoy close cooperation with the region’s private sector, municipalities, and county councils.
