Group Head Marketing at Maliban Group

Milinda Weerasinghe has a strong background in marketing and brand management, with extensive experience working for various companies in the consumer goods industry. Milinda began their career as a Brand Assistant at Unilever Sri Lanka in 2010 before moving on to roles such as Assistant Brand Manager for Lipton and Coffee, and later, Assistant Brand Manager for Hair care at Unilever. In 2015, they became a Senior Brand Manager for Sunsilk before joining Hindustan Unilever Ltd as a Brand Manager for Home care and Personal care. Milinda then returned to Unilever as a Senior Brand Manager for Mass Fabric Solutions before progressing to roles such as Business Integration & Category Lead for Nutrition and Category Head for Nutrition and Home & Hygiene. In their most recent role, Milinda served as the Category Head for Nutrition, as well as Head of Unilever Food Solution at Unilever until August 2023. Milinda then joined Maliban Group as their Group Head of Marketing in July 2023. Throughout their career, Milinda has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a track record of successfully managing and growing various product categories.

Milinda Weerasinghe pursued their education in a chronological order. Milinda started their academic journey in 2007 at the University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, where they earned a B.B Mgt (sp) degree with a specialization in Marketing. During their time there, they studied Marketing from 2007 to 2011.

In 2008, Milinda also obtained a Postgraduate Degree in Marketing from CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing. This course was pursued from 2008 to 2010, complementing their studies at the University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka.

Later, in 2013, Milinda attended the University of Colombo, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General. Milinda'sMBA program lasted from 2013 to 2015.

In addition to their formal education, Milinda has also acquired additional certifications. Milinda completed Agile Fundamentals from QA Ltd in August 2021. Furthermore, in March 2021, they became a CIM MCIM Member through CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing.
