Julia Bailey

Julia Bailey, PhD, serves as the Senior Officer for Learning and Evaluation at Mama Cash since March 2018, where responsibilities include designing and leading strategies for learning, monitoring, and evaluating advocacy initiatives and grantmaking programmes exceeding 6 million euros, while supporting over 200 grantee partners. Previously, Julia worked as a Consultant at the World Bank Group from 2015 to December 2018, focusing on qualitative research programmes for evaluating donor aid projects totaling over 80 million USD and advocating for a research approach centered on lived experiences. Julia's academic background includes a PhD in Socio-Cultural Anthropology from McGill University, where research emphasized the intersection of women's rights and development in Kenya, and experience as a Lecturer and Researcher at McGill from 2009 to 2016, contributing a gender perspective to projects valued at over 2 million USD. Early career experiences include serving as a Youth Counselor and Research Assistant at Pine River Institute, facilitating therapeutic groups for teenagers facing addiction challenges.
