Sema Erten has extensive work experience in the field of materials science. They worked as a Sr. Material Scientist at Harry's, Inc. starting in December 2017. Prior to that, they worked at Penn State University as a Research Assistant from August 2009 to December 2017, and as a Teaching Assistant from August 2016 to December 2016. In addition, Sema Erten served as a Reviewer for the Journal of Nanophotonics in January 2016. They also held leadership positions, including President of the Engineering Science and Mechanics Department Graduate Student Council from August 2014 to July 2015. Sema Erten gained internship experience at Ankara Numune Hospital-Radiation Oncology Department in August 2006 and at PETKiM Petrochemical Company-Ethylene Factory in August 2005.
Sema Erten completed their Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Physics at Hacettepe University from 2003 to 2007. Sema then pursued further education at Penn State University, where they obtained a Master's Degree in Engineering Science from 2009 to 2011. Following this, they continued their academic journey at Penn State University and received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering Science and Mechanics from 2011 to 2017.
