Tomos Williams

Tomos Williams has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Tomos currently serves as the Chief Technical Officer at Manchester Imaging Limited, where they lead the development of AI solutions and their successful deployment in clinical settings. Tomos also plays a key role in the company's overall business strategy and market analysis. Prior to this, Tomos worked as a Software Manager for the same company, where they were responsible for delivering and maintaining software as a medical device product and exploring revenue-generating opportunities through collaborations and funding.

Tomos also has experience working at Image Metrics as a Research Engineer and Head of Academic Relations. During their time there, they developed proprietary algorithms for facial tracking, character animation, and augmented reality technology. Tomos was involved in the creation of successful mobile apps such as L'Oreal's Makeup Genius and Nissan's Die-Hard fan app. Their work also contributed to the development of Faceware Technologies Inc.

Before joining Manchester Imaging Limited and Image Metrics, Tomos worked at the Centre for Imaging Science, University of Manchester, as a Lead Research Associate and Co-Investigator. Tomos focused on medical computer vision research and collaborated with AstraZeneca Ltd. and Imorphics Ltd. to develop MRI-based biomarkers for cartilage quality in arthritis drug development.

Tomos also has experience as a Software Engineer at Stryker-Imorphics and as a Research Associate and Teaching Fellow at Aberystwyth University. At Aberystwyth, they worked on developing an automated food assembly station and lectured on various programming and robotics topics. Tomos began their research career as a Research Assistant at Trinity College Dublin.

Tomos Williams pursued their education starting in 1991 at Imperial College London, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree (BEng) in Information Systems Engineering. Tomos then went on to pursue a PhD in Artificial Intelligence at Aberystwyth University from 1994 to 1998.
