Michael Gibson has a diverse work experience in the field of communications and media management. Michael started their career at Hanover Communications as a Community Executive and later became a Senior Account Executive. Michael then worked as a Consultant at The Playbook, where they provided strategic advice to clients in the sports and technology industries. Following this, they joined the England & Wales Cricket Board as a PR & Communications Manager for ICC Global Events.

Michael's career in sports continued as they joined the International Cricket Council (ICC) as a Senior Manager in Corporate Communications, where they played a key role in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Michael also took on several secondments, including as an ICC Media Manager for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup and the ICC Women's World T20 in West Indies.

In 2020, Michael became the Head of Media and Communications at the Rugby League World Cup 2021, overseeing media activities for the tournament. Michael then joined Tennis Wales as a Non-Executive Director in 2022. Presently, Michael is working as part of the Corporate Communications team at Manchester United.

Michael Gibson completed their GCSE and A Level studies at Hawarden High School from 2004 to 2012. Later, they pursued a degree in Comparative Literature at the University of Kent from 2012 to 2015, graduating with a 2:1 classification. During their time at the university, they focused on the field of study in English Literature (British and Commonwealth).
