Mandelbrot Metal is an independent software studio creating advanced visual computing experiences at the intersection of art, mathematics, science, and high-performance graphics. Founded by developer Michael Stebel, the studio builds precise, visually striking apps that push modern Apple hardware and graphics technologies to their limits.

Product Family

Mandelbrot Metal: The studio's flagship app brings the infinite complexity of Mandelbrot, Julia, and related fractals to iPhone and iPad through real-time, high-performance rendering. Built as a showcase for Apple's Metal® framework, it supports ultra-deep zoom, HDR color workflows, 8K+ exports, 3D visual effects, and more than 155 curated color palettes. The result is a powerful, creative, and exploratory tool that transforms abstract mathematics into immersive visual art. Since launching in October 2025, Mandelbrot Metal climbed to #3 in the App Store's Paid Graphics & Design category and has remained in the Top 100 every week, charting alongside long-established creative tools. PaletteWright™ for Mac and iPad is a color compiler built from the palette technology behind Mandelbrot Metal. Rather than treating color as static swatches, PaletteWright turns palettes into structured, production-ready assets. It can import colors from existing palettes, photos, websites, and CSS; normalize them through perceptual color models; audit and repair accessibility issues; map colors into semantic and component roles; and export tokens, CSS, framework themes, native app code, and audit reports. PaletteWright is designed for developers, web designers, app builders, and design-system teams working on Macs and iPads, with support for macOS 26+ and iPadOS 26+. Learn more at PaletteWright.com.
