Joel Cretan

Joel Cretan is a Senior Consultant at Mandiant, specializing as a malware reverse engineer since October 2022. Prior experience includes serving as a Senior Security Researcher at Red Balloon Security, Inc. where responsibilities encompassed managing security research interns and achieving significant milestones such as the discovery of vulnerabilities in 5G cell tower bootloaders and the development of new binary modification technologies (patent pending). Previous roles featured positions as a security researcher intern and malware analyst intern, where Joel demonstrated expertise in reverse engineering, vulnerability exploitation, and malware analysis. Joel holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science from Stanford University.
