Philip Lo has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Philip worked as a Process Engineer at Mangrove Lithium starting in December 2021. Prior to that, they held positions as a Test Engineer and Junior Test Engineer at the same company. From 2019 to 2020, they worked as a Research Assistant at The University of British Columbia, where they focused on research related to aqueous batteries. After that, they pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Chemical & Biological Engineering at The University of British Columbia from 2018 to 2020. Prior to their Bachelor's degree, Philip studied chemical engineering at Centro Universitário do Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia from 2011 to 2014, although they did not obtain a specific degree during that time.

In addition to their formal education, Philip also obtained several certifications related to chemical safety. Philip completed the Chemical Safety Course, Biosafety training, and WHMIS 2015 General Audience course at The University of British Columbia in 2019. Philip also holds certifications in Nitrogen's Role in Safety and Safety in the Chemical Process Industries from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Furthermore, Philip has a Six Sigma White Belt certification from the Aveta Business Institute.
