Pei Wang

Section Head, HVDC Planning at Manitoba Hydro

Pei Wang has extensive experience in high voltage direct current (HVDC) system planning and engineering, currently serving as Section Head of HVDC Planning at Manitoba Hydro since February 2008. In this role, Pei Wang oversees a skilled engineering team focused on the planning of the HVDC system, generator controls, and electromagnetic compatibility studies, directing comprehensive system studies for the third 500kV HVDC bipole. Previously, as a Senior System Studies Engineer, responsibilities included generator interconnection studies, compliance with NERC standards, and technical advisory roles for station design and analysis. Pei Wang's earlier experience at the Manitoba HVDC Research Centre involved international training in power system simulations and conducting voltage stability and transient studies. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University and a Master of Science in the same field from the University of Manitoba.
