Murray Duke has an extensive work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Currently, as the Head of Portfolio and Governance at Manulife since August 2021, they lead two teams of project professionals, ensuring the delivery of results and overseeing portfolio management, strategy, and agile methodologies.
Murray previously worked at AIG as a Project Director from October 2013 to April 2021, where they provided collaborative project delivery leadership for AIG technologies in Japan and established the PMO function for the infrastructure delivery team.
Prior to that, Murray was a Portfolio Manager at NN in 2012 and a Project Manager at Citibank from March 2011 to August 2012, managing infrastructure and software development projects.
Before joining Citibank, they served as a Project Manager at Datacraft Japan from December 2007 to December 2010, overseeing projects from pre-sales to post-implementation support, leading cross-functional teams, and contributing to IT strategic consulting.
Murray also gained experience at Cisco Japan as a Project Manager from October 2005 to September 2007, where they provided project management across various process groups, led local cross-functional project teams, and managed the launch of new service marketing initiatives in Japan.
Murray'scareer began as an IT Manager and Business Analyst at BoConcept Furniture K.K. from March 2002 to August 2005.
Murray Duke obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Alberta in 1996, after completing their education in 1991. In 1996, they attended MacEwan University for a program in Asia-Pacific Management, although they did not earn a specific degree from this institution. Later, from 2006 to 2010, Murray pursued an MBA at the University of Warwick's Warwick Business School, specializing in Business Administration and Management.
In terms of additional certifications, Murray Duke has obtained various certifications over the years. In 2006, they acquired the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. Murray further expanded their knowledge and skills by obtaining the Prince2 certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice in 2012. More recently, in 2021 and 2023, Murray earned several certifications related to Scrum and Agile methodologies, including Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I), Professional Scrum with Kanban I (PSK I), Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM), and Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master (DASSM).
