Fernando Barroso Laiz

Fernando Barroso Laiz currently serves as Director de Seguridad at MAPFRE since February 2023. Previously, Fernando held the position of Oficial de Estado Mayor (J-4 Logística Operativa) at MANDO DE OPERACIONES - ESTADO MAYOR DE LA DEFENSA from September 2019 to February 2023, where responsibilities included planning and coordinating the support of Spanish forces deployed abroad. Fernando also served as an international observer with the United Nations Mission in Colombia from November 2021 to November 2022, providing military advice. Earlier experience includes various roles at Ejercito de Tierra focused on logistics, personnel management, and operations planning, as well as positions within NATO and UNIFIL. Fernando’s education comprises a Curso Superior de Director de Seguridad from Universidad Nebrija, studies at the Escuela Superior de las Fuerzas Armadas, and a degree in Infantry from the Academia General Militar. Additional credentials include a diploma in fraud prevention and studies in psychology from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia.
