Mark Sohm has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Mark began their career as an intern at St. Joseph's Hospital, Ontario Ministry of Transportation, and ArcelorMittal Dofasco in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 2001, they joined ADC as a Software Engineer, where they contributed to building and maintaining an installer for the FastFlow broadband provisioning product.
In 2003, Sohm transitioned to a desktop support analyst role at BlackBerry before quickly moving into the initial response team. Mark then became a software engineering consultant, supporting customers using BlackBerry SDKs and APIs, creating sample code, and representing the company at conferences. Notably, they were granted two patents during their tenure at BlackBerry.
Sohm's passion for mobile development led him to work on various mobile apps in their spare time at Thumb Powered. From 2005 to 2021, they developed and deployed multiple apps for Android, BlackBerry 10, and BlackBerry OS.
In recent years, Sohm joined Mappedin as a Staff Developer Evangelist in 2023. Prior to that, they held various positions at BlackBerry, including Senior Solution Architect, Team Lead for Cross-Platform Technologies, and Software Engineering Consultant. Mark supported external developers, provided technical escalation support, and authored knowledge base articles and blog posts.
Throughout their career, Sohm has demonstrated their technical expertise and ability to support customers, manage teams, and contribute to open-source projects.
