Shane Spicer is the Director of Technology at Marburn Academy since August 2016, bringing extensive experience in educational technology and development. Prior to this role, Shane served as an Educational Technology Consultant at ITSCO from October 2010 to July 2016, delivering professional development services to educators in central Ohio. Earlier career highlights include working as an Assistant Editor at McGraw-Hill between December 2004 and October 2010, where collaboration on math textbook development and the creation of educational technologies took place. Shane's teaching background includes roles as a Fourth Grade Teacher at Reynoldsburg City Schools (August 2002 - August 2004), Sixth Grade Teacher at Princeton City Schools (January 2000 - January 2002), and Fifth Grade Teacher at Cincinnati Public City Schools (January 1999 - January 2000). Shane holds a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and a Bachelors of Science in Communication Science Disorders from the University of Cincinnati, earned between 1995 and 2000.

COMPANY OVERVIEW: Marburn Academy is an independent day school devoted to serving the educational needs of students who learn differently due to dyslexia, executive function difficulties, and attention issues including ADHD. Founded in 1981 with 12 students, Marburn now educates over 370 students year-round in its day school and summer programs. Marburn Academy is the only school in Central Ohio with academic and co-curricular programs designed to address the full range of unique learning and personal development needs of children with learning differences such as dyslexia and ADHD. Students from more than 37 Central Ohio communities attend the school. Marburn Academy is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS.) Marburn Academy is also a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the Ohio Association of Independent Schools (OAIS). Marburn is accredited by the Independent School Association of the Central States (ISACS) and is one of only 18 schools in the nation to have its language instruction program accredited by the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA). In 2018, Marburn was named an Apple Distinguished School, the first K-12 school in Central Ohio to receive the distinction.
