Rachel MacPherson began their work experience in 1993 at Lord + Taylor, where they served in various buying roles. From 1998 to 2006, they worked at Gap Inc., holding divisional merchandise manager and senior merchandiser/merchandise manager positions for both Gap and Old Navy brands. In 2006, they became the Senior Director of Merchandising at Art.com before transitioning to ANN INC in 2009. At ANN INC, they served as Vice President, Merchandising - Ecommerce from 2009 to 2013 and later as Sr. Vice President of Merchandising, Ecommerce from 2013 to 2015. MacPherson then moved on to Shopbop | East Dane in 2015, where they worked as a GMM. In 2016, they joined Michael Kors as the SVP Merchandising, Retail (Omni-channel) until 2017. From 2017 to 2019, they held the position of EVP/GM of Global Ecommerce at Tarte Cosmetics. Afterwards, MacPherson served as the GM of Ecommerce at Lafayette 148 New York from 2020 to 2022. Currently, they are the SVP/GM of Global Ecommerce at Marc Jacobs as of March 2022.

Rachel MacPherson attended The Wharton School from 1989 to 1993, where they obtained a BSE degree with a focus on Marketing and Multinational Management.
