Mark Cortell is Deputy General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of Marcus & Millichap and is responsible for overseeing corporate governance, risk management and insurance, as well as the legal aspects of the firm’s SEC Reporting & Compliance and mergers & acquisitions activity. Appointed in 2019, Mr. Cortell brings significant public company experience, as well as extensive experience managing large private equity portfolio companies.

Mr. Cortell has served as a senior legal and finance executive with global responsibilities at Zodiac Pool Solutions, S.A. (a Carlyle Group portfolio company), Water Pik Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: WPTI), Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), Move, Inc. (NASDAQ: MOVE) and Kinko’s, Inc. (FedEx Office). Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Cortell worked as a Senior Accountant for KPMG and as a financial consultant.

Mr. Cortell received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Pepperdine School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business/Economics (Accounting) from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Mr. Cortell is a licensed attorney and member of the California Bar, and is also a Licensed Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
